Often while using the computer we need to copy or transfer a file from one place to another on the hard disk, whether transferring a file from Partition "D" to Partition "C" on the desktop, or from the flash drive to the hard drive. When you want to, you have to select the file and right click to get the option "Copy" for copying and "Cut" for transfer, select the appropriate option and then go to the folder you want to add it to. The problem with this method is that it is difficult when it comes to copying or moving multiple files from different folders, so you will find that it is impractical and wastes a lot of time. In this case, the "Send to" option is usually used to make the command smooth and fast, as you specify the location from the submenu and a shortcut to the specified files is created immediately in the specified location. But the shortcuts don't always work, as the original copy must be stored on the same hard d...

Change the default name of "New Folder" for new folders in Windows

Although there are a lot of settings and options that are added through updates and different versions of the Windows system, we always find many things taken for granted within the Windows operating system that cannot be changed or even there is no direct way to control and change them, so we often resort to some distinctive tricks such as Registry modifications to modify some of those things, such as the possibility of modifying the right-click menu items, whether by adding new items to them such as power options or deleting items from them in addition to deleting the search words history within the system and many other things, and today we will talk about a new trick through which you can change the default name of the folders The new file that you create within the Windows system and get rid of the boring name "New Folder" and replace it with any other name of your choice.

As we mentioned in the introduction to do this, it is necessary to make an amendment to the registry registry for the Windows system, but of course it is always necessary to remind and before making any modifications to make a backup of the registry so that you can always return to the original version in case you encounter any problems after the modification.

How to change the default "New Folder" name to another name

To do this, you must first go to the registry registry in the Windows system by pressing the "WIN + R" button from the keyboard to open the "Run" command execution window, then typing the "regedit" command and pressing Enter, and the registry window will open immediately.

Then, through the side menu, go to this path manually or faster by copying the following link and pasting it to the address bar above:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

After that, right-click on the "Explorer" folder from the side menu, then create a new folder at the bottom through the "New" option and then the "Key" option. Make sure to name the new folder with the following name without any modifications or spaces so that the method works properly and it is preferable to copy And paste the name directly into the folder name field:

NamingTemplates

After that, select the new folder that you created in the previous step to create a new key inside this folder by pressing the right mouse button inside the main screen, then pressing the "New" option, then the "String Value" option. A new key will be created inside the folder and make sure that the key is named With the following name also without any modifications or spaces in order for the method to work properly, and it is preferable to copy and paste the name directly into the key name field.

RenameNameTemplate

After that, right-click on the key that you created and then click on the "Modify" option and through the next window type any name you want inside the "Value Data" box to name the new folders with this name by default and you can specify any name, whether in Arabic or English provided that special characters such as "&, *, /, <..... etc" are not used.

Now close the registry window and then press the "CTRL + SHIFT + ESC" keys to open the "Task Manager" window, and through the Operations tab, click on the "Windows Explorer" process and then press the "restart" option to restart the process from New to confirm that the change we created in the previous steps is activated.

Now, when you create any new folder in any path, you will find that the default name for it is what you specified in the previous step, and that you got rid of the traditional "New Folder" name, and if you want to return and cancel that change in the future, you can restore the backup copy that you saved before the change.
